With the success of Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, it is a wander is anybody is planning to go and see Guy Ritchie’s upcoming spy remake, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Regardless, it’s time to get excited about it, or if you’re over the whole spy thing, then maybe not.
This is another remake of a TV Series that ran from 1964-1968 with the same name. The acronym stands for United Network Command for Law and Enforcement by the way, just in case you were wandering. The TV Series was popular for it’s use of charm and gadgetry. The tone for the remake seems light and ‘playful’, although if you watch the extended trailer from the Comic-Con panel, and pay close attention to the last minute edit, there is a lot of action in this film!
Guy Ritchie is back in the directors chair, after a few years off to perhaps mend after his divorce with Madonna. He has proven that he can do action comedy, with his directional debut, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and he has proven that he can do ‘spy’, with his take on Sherlock Holmes. In this film, these genres are combined, and it will interesting to see what the result is. I sure hope he hasn’t relied heavily on CGI to recreate the 60’s look, it’s always so distracting when things look fake, don’t you think?
Henry Cavill is as cavalier as ever in this film, based on the trailer and seems to have a solid supporting cast. The inclusion of Hugh Grant is curious, but at the same time it’s good to see him, seems like he hasn’t been in anything for ages. The major thing that might hold people back from seeing this film is that they know little about it, or they’ve just had enough of remakes and this genre in particular. Are you planning to see this? Tell us why you are excited about The Man From U.N.C.L.E or not!
Here is a link to the extended trailer, enjoy!
