Have you checked out The Visit trailer yet? It starts of with a very comedic tone, and i’ll even go as far as to say that it seems jolly. The second half of the trailer turns dark and creepy, not as creepy as The VVitch trailer, nonetheless, it isn’t for the faint hearted. Ready to get creeped out by The Visit trailer?

M. Night Shyamalan has given us some thought-provoking films, like The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, which is one of the better ‘super-hero’ films we’ve had. Unfortunately, as studio’s tend to have a habit of doing, that is, doing what they please and taking away the director’s artistic control, some of his more recent directional feats have been way below standard. The Will Smith and Son, After Earth disaster is one of the examples that come to mind.

From the earnings he made from After Earth, M. Night Shyamalan has decided to take full control of his upcoming film, The Visit. Story goes he edited the film, alone, and ended up with three different cuts. The first cut was pure comedy, the second, pure horror, and the final cut, what we will be seeing, is ‘something in-between’. I think that this film has the potential to be popular, not necessarily good and memorable, like The Babadook, but it will attract a wide audience.

It is gutsy of M. Night Shyamalan to make another ‘found footage’, although it is his first, as we already have an abundance of them, in an increasingly exhausted genre. With a reportedly tiny budget of only $5 Million, I am praying this is another success story for M. Night Shyamalan, and perhaps it will give him the budget to make a film with, possibly, more lasting impact. What are you thoughts? Creeped out or not?
