“You took too much man, you took too much, too much.” This is what Dr. Gonzo says to Raoul Duke after he’s consumed all of the ‘adrenochrome’. What is ‘adrenochrome’, what does it do, what does the ‘adrenochrome’ binge lead to? You’ll have to find out and watch Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and you will be in for an alcohol and drug fuelled ride with Benicio Del Toro and Johnny Depp.
Johnny Depp is well known for his eccentric roles. His role as Raoul Duke, an infamous journalist is nothing less than eccentric, and it is nothing less than remarkable! Benicio Del Toro’s talent shines in his role as Dr. Gonzo, Duke’s legal advisor. But my favourite aspect of this movie is the dialogue, the way this movie is written is brilliant, and every time that I munch on this film I hear a piece of dialogue I hadn’t heard before, its awesome stuff!
If you add Hunter S. Thompson to Depp, divide by Del Toro, multiply by Streisand, and square root by Vegas, you get a 10 out of 10. Munch on Fear and Loathing and enjoy!
TRIVIA COOKIE: Johnny Depp spent 4 months with Hunter S. Thompson in preparation for the role as Duke, he even wore Thompson’s real clothing in the film, and mastered his mannerisms and vocal inflections. Talk about artistic commitment!
