Film Munchers, I just wanted to mention a documentary I recently watched, and I think may be of interest to you Richard Linklater fans out there. 21 Years: Richard Linklater is a nice tribute to the out-side-the-box thinker.
With interviews from numerous a-listers including Matthew McConaughey, Keanu Reeves and Jack Black, this 78 minute feature documentary is entertaining to say the least. Admittedly a lot of what is covered is most likely already known to all you avid fans out there, so don’t expect anything new from these interviews, but it’s always great to hear about directors that we admire and look up to, like Richard.
I agree with Billy Bob Thorton, when he says about Richard, “he’s alright, he doesn’t need a documentary”. Nevertherless you may be reminded of some of Richard’s earlier work, and may be inclined to watch or either re-wacth some of it. My favourite part of this documentary is when they discuss in some length, with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, the Before Trilogy. Film Munchers if you haven’t seen Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight, please stop what you’re doing right now, and watch these! They are cinema gold! Well, maybe just finish reading my post! hehe…
Richard Linklater is a source of inspiration for many, including me. He has proven many times that what seems impossible, can be achieved, just look at The 12 Year Project!
TRIVIA COOKIE: Apparently the team that developed this documentary are working on another project, entitled 21 Years: Quentin Tarantino, which will form the second of its kind of what is to be a series, called 21 Years Series. Can not wait!
